SCREEN PRINTING IS a traditional printing technique where ink is pushed through a mesh screen (originally made of silk, now often polyester) onto a substrate (like fabric, paper, wood, or plastic) using a squeegee. A stencil or emulsion, blocks parts of the screen so the ink only passes through the intended design areas. THE PROCESS GOES MORE OR LESS LIKE THIS:
Creating a design
Transferring it to a mesh screen using light-sensitive emulsion
Blocking out the areas not meant to print
Pulling ink across the screen to press ink through open areas onto the material
Curing the ink (usually with heat) to make the design permanent
